Mount Noble

(9.1km)

Minimum altitude: 1,937 m

Maximum altitude: 2,651 m

Difficulty level: T2 / T3

Elevation +: 717 m

Approximate walking time: 3h30

To get there : A9 motorway to Sion-Est. Turn right then at the first roundabout, take the 3rd exit towards Bramois (Route de Chippis). Continue straight ahead and at the 3rd roundabout, take direction Nax, Saint-Martin. For my part, and in order to avoid the center of Vernamiège which is narrow, I advise you to take the direction of Mayens de Mase and thus join the road which leads to Lake Vernamiège.

Where to park : the first option is to leave your car in the Lac de Vernamiège car park. The second option is to continue on the mountain road which passes through the place called Pralovin and to continue until the next crossroads (see map and GPS map).

The route begins at the aforementioned crossroads, you will see a sign there. It first crosses the forest to arrive in a place called "Les Planards". Thereafter, you will continue towards  Col de Cou and finally, at this one, you will turn left. Note that shortly after the Planards alpine chalet, you have another possibility to climb to Mont-Noble by taking a path that goes to the left and not by continuing straight towards Col de Cou. From Mont-Noble, you will have a magnificent view of the Val d'Hérémence, the Réchy valley, Sierre, Montana ... You will descend through the other side of the "Tête des Planards" and next to the Chalet Mont Noble. If you feel like it, you can have a drink at the Gautier buvette at a place called Le Chiesso.

Note that shortly before the top, when arriving at the terminus of the Combe chairlift, the path seems to take the route of the ski slope and it was laid out with stones which are not necessarily stable... so be carefull !
